CRA - August 2007 Weekend

Also, I am a bit ashamed to admit but I'm WAY behind on orders right now. If you have recently placed an order and not heard back from me yet, thank you for your patience! I should get everything sent out on Monday.
And a huge thanks to everyone for your comments on this week's highlight image. Based on the email I've received, this is probably the most popular image ever posted on this site.

August 5th, 2007
I have to start off by pointing out this week's highlight photo. It is someone who has never been seen on this site before, yet should be familiar to most of you (hopefully).
It's ME!
That's right - I finally get to grace the front page of my own website, and I'm excited about it. This was my first time on the track with the KTM since I got it back in April of this year and how fitting that it would be in the pouring RAIN? I ignored the many dozens of alarms in my head and ventured out into a mostly empty DCTC track with Mike and Kevin and proceeded to have the most fun of any DCTC day in my 4 years of being there.
At this point you may be wondering if I'm out riding, who is taking the photos?
I'd like to take this opportunity to formally introduce my new assistant, Chelsea Johnson. She's already got two BIR weekends, an AMA Superbike weekend at Road America, and a few DCTC's under her belt this year. And as you can see, she is more than capable of filling in for me when I need to go on the other side of the lens. I apologize in advance for the distraction caused by a cute blonde girl pointing a lens at you in the corners now....
Also, some eagle-eyed customers will note the new pricing option on the photo pages: Desktop Digital. Due to the popularity (and confusion) of the small digital images I have offered before, I've changed the wording AND THE PRICE so it makes more sense. The Desktop Digital files are 1024x768 pixels in size, and available for $10, or $5 if you purchase a print at the same time.
That being said, the photos from the August 4th Ridingcourse.com day at DCTC have been posted! It rained ALL day, so I shot the sessions from the morning and Chelsea covered during the time I was on the track in the afternoon. Check them out here when you are finished drying your leathers and cleaning your bike.

Photos from Monday's TrackAddix track day have been posted!
I know what most of my posts have a tendency to start out with me either bitching about or praising the weather. Well Monday's TrackAddix day was HOT. Hot Hot. Hot like I couldn't hold my hand on the top of my camera lens hot. Hot like I drank 15 bottles of water hot. Hot like I'm glad I'm not in my black leathers hot. Lots of respect to the brave souls who gave a middle finger to the sun and went and rocked some track time. I bet there are a lot of smelly socks sitting in trailers right now...
Did I mention it was hot? oh yeah, and humid too.

UPDATE: CRA Race photos are posted! Almost finished with the pitbike race and about halfway through the Trackaddix photos. Soon!
Attack of the BIR Photos!
There is no use hiding it... I know what's going on here... I am already seeing a spike in repeat visitor traffic to momentumphoto.net, and that can only mean one thing - rampant clicking of browser refresh buttons!
Well I have good news and bad news. The good news is I'm finally home which means I'm one step closer to getting the photos sorted and posted online. The bad news is I have a little over 17GB (that's around 5500 images) that have to be sorted, organized, captioned, and resized before they can be posted online.
So, as usual you can click here to be notified as soon as galleries are posted. Also I will try and post up some highlights here as well as on mnsbr.com.
This edition's highlight photo is of #14 Tony Peterson. Why might you ask, did I pick a solo motorcycle from a weekend of racing as the highlight? Because he brought my KTM back from the dead and therefore all is well with the universe. That's why!
Stay tuned...

PHOTOS ARE POSTED!
Yes, finally. I can't remember the last time it took me over a week to get images posted from an event. My vacation was followed immediately by moving, and as anyone knows that always takes longer than you expect. Plus I started my new job on Monday so I haven't had the computer time I needed to get through a good sort.
Regardless, the images from the awesome women's day are ready for your persual. I saw improvement in EVERYONE! The timid, stiff-armed, upright riders I saw in the morning all came out of their shells and starting showing great form by the end of the day. As you look through your sessions, I suggest opening a 2nd window and comparing both morning and afternoon shots. (Hey, I dig it when my sales pitch in the morning riders meeting comes true...)
Click here for the 2007 DCTC Women's Day photos. Enjoy! (And thanks for your patience)

UPDATE: It turns out I forgot upload the 12pm Rowdy session... oops! It's posted now, you can find it here.
I feel bad for everyone who tuck tailed and ran when it started to sprinkle a bit after lunch on Saturday... The day returned right back to awesome as the sun came back out! As usual, it's always a treat to meet new faces down at DCTC. It is a lot more fun for me when I actually know who is behind that smoked face shield, and better for you because it means I put just a little bit more effort into making you look like a bad-ass.
Lunchtime was a treat as not only were there fiddys chasing eachother around, but Cam and Pooter busted out the 'Tards and did an impromptu stunt show on the front straight. Your photos are in the "Lunchtime" section.
Enjoy the photos! (And I took quite a bit more than usual on Saturday. Is there really such a thing as too many images from an event?) This weekend's highlight showcases Ras demonstrating proper cornering techniques to Zach. Nice going guys!

Saturday was one of those "on" days here at momentumphoto. By my definition, a perfect DCTC day. While it looked like it was going to rain any second, the clouds meant I could shoot some places that I can't in full sunlight. Photo-nerdary aside, this means new stuff - and I think you'll probably dig it. I was actually able to shoot from the inside of the sweeper before the back straight. And as evidenced by Darren here, you can really get low...
Enjoy!

I'd like to say a huge thanks to Pat Hahn for inviting me out to shoot H.E. again this year. It's always a pleasure to watch as riders improve their skills and get more comfortable with their machines. As par for the course, the wide variety of bikes makes for an enjoyable day of shooting. From my shock and awe of seeing the Piaggio MP3 on the track for the first time - to having to take about 10 steps backwards (or move the bucket up another few feet) when that mammoth Gold Wing camerocketing past.
Oh, and thanks for your patience everyone! I've had literally about 10 minutes to sit down in front of my computer since Saturday so the galleries took a bit longer than usual to sort through...
Enjoy!

Photos from the May 2007 CRA weekend have been posted!
More details from the weekend to follow...
Team I-94, MNSBR, and Simply Luxury Imports put on one hell of a party this past weekend. Check back here later for event highlights, but in the mean time here are all the group ride photos you have been asking for!
They are divided up by section:
Chase Car - images I shot from the chase car.
Corner Shots - images I shot from two twisty sections along the ride. These are the vanity shots you are looking for.
Groups - Random multi-motorcycle photos from SLXI, the route, and gas station.
I tried my best to get everyone, but sorry in advance if I missed you!
Welcome back!
I just posted my shooting schedule for this year and I'm already getting itchy for the season to start up again. So far I'll be covering all of the CRA events, all of the TrackAddix dates in Minnesota, and thankfully will only miss ONE motorcyle day down at DCTC (May 5th conflicts with a CRA weekend). I also be covering our local racers when they kick ass at Road America for AMA in June, and an assortment of local motorcycle "events". Be sure to check back here for updates in the coming weeks - I've got some new products to announce, and a potential sponsorship to finalize.
In the mean time, I dusted off the camera gear and snapped some photos of the MNSBR crew getting their whoolies on at the fiddy spot this week. Check it out!
