As usual - lots of battling this weekend!
Chelsea and I had a blast watching everyone duke it out, and I think we hit every corner throughout the weekend.
Enjoy the photos, and thanks for your support! We love seeing the MPDN stickers everywhere!

It's hard to know where to begin talking about last weekend's CRA races. We could talk about the awesome weather, the battles in every class, the high levels of sportsmanship, the CRA staff/volunteers, or any number of other things that exemplify why the CRA is the best club around - and why we love working with them and everyone else involved.
That will come later, but in the mean time you can enjoy Chelsea's shot of Kris "Skellbow" Skellenger dragging his elbow through the carousel.
Check back in a day or so for highlights, and later on this week for the rest of the photos. Thanks!
As always, Pat Hahn and his crew put on a great day of instruction for Minnesota's two-wheel lawmen last Thursday.

Another great Friday night down at DCTC for ZARS!
Tonight presented some unique challenges however, as the dark clouds made for really tricky shooting. Chelsea and I both had our cameras maxed out at high ISO and slow shutter speeds, but while it was a bit more work for us I'm sure you'll agree that those long pans made everyone look good and fast.
Apart from the lighting being what it was, everyone looked amazing out there. I saw bikes of all shapes and sizes getting more and more fluid as the evening went on. Looking back at all the images from the evening I am continually impressed with the instructor/student ratio offered by ZARS events, as you'll probably notice a vested rider in the background of almost all the multi-rider images.
Photos are organized by session, and as usual all of your digital images from the evening are only $25!
Photos from Friday night at DCTC with Team ZG have been posted!
Short evening for me, but reverse course gave me a chance to try out some new spots and angles. Great to meet all the new faces!
As I said in our Saturday update - you can't spell Brainerd without "rain". And it rained HARD. Unfortunately the races ended early on Saturday due to the looming storm, and for good reason. This meant Sunday was completely chock-full of 24 races, but thanks to the professionalism of the CRA staff and volunteers the races wrapped up EARLY on Sunday. HUGE shout out goes to everyone who helped out this weekend!
Also I'd like to personally thank the race stewards for giving us access to a few spots on the track we had never been before - on the pit wall outside of 11, outside the joker, and at the end of the wall between 6 and 7. All provided some cool new angles and hopefully some photos no one has seen yet.
And of course - thanks to all the racers for providing fantastic material that we were fortunate enough to be able to capture on our cameras. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for you, so THANK YOU for continuing to support the CRA.
Well, you can't spell Brainerd without "rain" and Saturday was no exception. Chelsea's shot of Stephan Dorn in T9 just goes to show that not everyone heads for cover when the track is hit with some liquid sunshine. We stuck it out with the brave racers, and shot every single race throughout the day. The gear is drying out, the batteries are charging, and we are going to bed early so we can cover the 20+ sprint races planned for Sunday. Check back after the weekend for some highlights!
Welcome, everybody! Chelsea and I took a TON of photos on Saturday, and I believe this might be a new track day record with over 2000 images making the final cut.
In order to get the images posted ASAP, we opted to sort images by session and not by number. Unfortunately some of the numbers on a few of the bikes were too hard to see and it would have taken us many more days to get them all sorted that way.
But the good news is, we have plenty of photos of everyone from the day. Remember, you can get each and every photo of you on an Event CD (or download) for only $50!
Please enjoy the photos, and feel free to contact us with any questions about ordering. Thanks!
Photos from the Friday July 2nd evening at DCTC have been posted!
Had fantastic light the whole night, and I'm pretty confident I was able to shoot everyone during the "golden hour" when the sun was just starting to set.
Great seeing everyone, and as usual a HUGE thanks to Jessica and company for putting on a great riding school (and letting me come shoot it :)
First off - thanks to everyone for their patience while I got these galleries ready. I've received more phone calls and emails from people wanting updates than ever before, so that much mean you all really want to see these!
So, click here to see the photos from the 2010 Minnesota Kickoff Ride
Similar to previous years, all the images in these galleries are free for your personal use on blogs, Facebook, email, websites, etc. If you would like a print, or a version without a watermark, you can click any of the links to the right of a photo to place an order.
And if you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check out the highlight gallery. Nice big, juicy, high-resolution photos in there for your browsing pleasure.
Enjoy!
To be honest, Chelsea and I are pretty pumped about this weekend's pictures. The overcast skies gave us a lot of options in terms of where to shoot from, and we hit our groove in terms of covering the races from various angles.
Both of us agree these might be the best photos we've taken up at Brainerd in recent memory, and we thank you all for your continued support, feedback, and comments.
We also put together a gallery of highlights in nice, big, juicy resolution for your enjoyment. We're pretty proud of these, and you can check them out by clicking here.
Otherwise, you can click here to browse the gallery from the June weekend. Enjoy the pictures!
Good news and bad news...
The bad news is I'm guessing at least a week before I get all the photos posted from the 2010 Kickoff ride. This is due to the sheer number of photos from the group ride, the multiple stunt shows, custom bike show, and random people I ran into.
The good news is that I put together a highlight gallery (click the photo of Aaron above) to tide you over in the mean time. Open up that browser window nice and big, because these are larger resolution highlights than I've posted in years past. Enjoy!
Oh, and don't forget to check back here for updates! Of course - if you're feeling lazy, I can also send you an email when photos are posted if you contact me by clicking here.
I've got lots and lots of photos to sort through from the 2010 Kickoff Ride and stunt show at SLXI. Please check back late Monday evening for highlights, and I'm hoping to have the full galleries (stunt show, group ride, etc) all posted by the end of the week.
Be sure to check back here throughout the week for updates. Thanks!
I can't start to talk about the overall awesome-ness of Monday's ZARS Track Day at BIR without first bringing up the weather. I did a lot of googling and I couldn't find any better term than "perfect" to describe the day. Not too hot, not too cold, this was juuuuuuuust right.
And it wasn't just your friendly neighborhood photog that was in good spirits as a result; Monday's rider meeting started off with some 120 smiling and eager faces all ready to hone their skills under the watchful eyes of a kick-ass instructor team, which has become synonymous with the ZARS events.
There were a LOT of bikes out there, and it made it difficult to keep track at first. I'm afraid there is a good chance I completely missed some people until the next session, so don't be afraid if you don't see yourself right away. There were some bikes I didn't even notice until the end of some of the sessions!
All in, I shot a total of 18 sessions before I threw on my leathers and stopped being just a spectator. A HUGE thank you to Tony Peterson from Motoprimo for graciously lending me some seat time on his Triumph 675. I only wish I had even half the skills necessary to really flex the muscles on that machine…
Of course, a huge thank you also goes out to Jessica for inviting me to come shoot the event, as well as her staff and all the volunteers who kept everyone informed, fed, hydrated, bandaged, and trained throughout the day.
Enjoy the pictures, and I look forward to seeing you all next time!
- Jonah
I have no idea how Pat does it, but every year Hedonistic Enthusiasm rolls around, the weather gods decide to smile down upon DCTC and bless everyone with sunshine. While there were a few track issues, (not limited to a Deepwater Horizon-size oil spill on the back straight) riders seemed to adapt to the alternative track layout and didn't seem to affect the day whatsoever.
On a personal level, it's always a treat to shoot Pat's event because I get to watch riders improve throughout the day. Lots of attention from instructors and feedback from the corner workers help problems get addressed right away, and I watched the confidence level of a few stiff-armed noobs increase to the point where they were smiling under their helmets by lunch time.
Thanks to Pat for having me down to cover the day, all the workers for keeping everyone in line, and to all the new riders who decided to come out and improve their skills.
Photos from the May 14th Friday evening ZARS event at DCTC have been posted!
And just like last time, you can get all your images from the evening for $25 by clicking the "Event CD" link next to any one of your images.
To be completely honest, Friday night at DCTC with ZARS is was one of those times I remembered that I really love this job; I could have stood outside doing nothing at all and been completely happy. Lucky for me I got to shoot some bikes and hang out with friends on what turned out to be a perfect evening.
Today's highlight photo is ZARS Instructor, Bob Barton, leading students from the intermediate group through DCTC's first few turns. Oh and the MPDN sticker prominently located on his front fairing helps a little, too... Canon 1DMKIII, 300/2.8 - ISO 200 1/250 @ f13
I will have the rest of the photos posted sometime on Sunday, as I have a full day at DCTC shooting Pat Hahn's Hedonistic Enthusiasm school on Saturday. Basically this means I am wussing out and going to bed, so you all are just gunna have to deal :)
Thanks again to Jessica for having MPDN down there, and to all the riders that keep us coming back. Check back Sunday for photos!
Photos from the 2010 May CRA weekend have been posted!
Despite the snow and rain on Friday, the below 40 temps on Saturday, and the swarms of ticks on Sunday, we were still able to get tons of shots of all the racers throughout the weekend. There should be multiple pages of thumbnails for everyone, so be sure to check each page.
And remember, you can get ALL of your photos from the weekend for only $50! Just click the "Event CD" next to one of your images and we will send you either a CD or a download link to all your photos.
You can click here for a highlight gallery from Saturday, or click on any racer number below to see all you shots from the weekend.
Thanks to all the racers, CRA volunteers and BIR staff for a great weekend!
Just wrapped up a chilly day of shooting on Saturday up here at BIR! Congrats to the new racers, and everyone else on a solid day of racing on the competition course. Chelsea and I spent some time indoors, warming up and picking out some highlights to share from the day. You can check 'em out here:
Launch the Highlight gallery from Saturday
We have another day of shooting on Sunday, so be sure to check back here in the next few days for updates. Thanks, everyone!
ZARS Season kickoff special: Event CD for only $25! (Don't waste your time trying to find the best shot of the night, get them all for $25!)
Welcome back, everyone! The first Friday night ZARS event of the season wound up being a picture-perfect evening for riding at DCTC. The alternating clouds and sunshine made for some really great lighting and the new paint jobs were looking fantastic.
Be sure to check each page of your session, as not only did I move around a lot per usual - but most sessions were half-sun and half-clouds so there is some great variety. Some of the pictures are there to help you evaluate your riding position (corner entry, apex, exit, etc) while others are there just to make you look fast.
This week's highlight is by far my favorite shot of the night - Gabe Blevins showing off his trademark paint scheme on the new RR. Picked this shot because the sun had just set and I was shooting at the absolute edge of what my gear (and I) can handle in such low light. Full blur on the wheels, perfect contrast to make that gold color just pop, and that sweet blurred backround that you just can't get with Photoshop... Canon 1DMKIII, 300/2.8 - ISO 500 1/160 @ 2.8

Each year, Chelsea and I sit down take a look at our product pricing. We are a business after all, and businesses have expenses, have to pay taxes, insurance, and the like.
As 2010 kicks off, we are happy to announce that we are lowering prices yet again. That's right - as we enter our 8th year of photographing two-wheeled goodness in the upper Midwest, we are making it even easier to get that print or digital image that makes you look wicked fast.
The biggest change will be to our event CD's. Offered to the new racers last year for $50, they became an instant hit and even the vets wanted in on the deal. Well - you asked and we listened; Event CD's are $50 for EVERYONE in 2010!
That's every single photo we have of you from an event/race weekend/track day for $50. You simply will not find a better deal in US currency. This is being done as a huge THANK YOU to all the riders and their families for supporting us since 2003.
Of course, print prices have to drop too! Thanks to improvements in our workflow, we are passing on the savings to you by offering the following size prints at new prices:
8x10 - $18
8x12 - $18
10x15 - $30
16x20 - $50
20x30 - $75
If demand stays up, these prices will stick throughout the 2010 season. Thanks again to everyone for their support over the years. See you at the track!
(And for those of you who are looking to order items from 2009 and earlier, please contact Jonah for a quote as resetting all the prices on the site might take some time...)
MomentumPhoto.Net is proud to offer CRA contingency in 2010!
The #1 Expert and #1 Novice racers receive ALL of their photos at the end of the season.
As well, race winners from the "Special" races throughout the season get all of their photos from that weekend. These races include the Women's Race, Formula 40, Framstead Cup, The Endurance Race, and possibly others.
Be sure to pick up a sticker during the race weekend and fill out your forms in registration. More info can be found in the 2010 CRA Program, or feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
Good luck, Racers!
Every year the Minneapolis Advertising community has an award show called The Show where all the best advertising, design and photography from the year is celebrated and little shiny things are passed out.
2009 was the first year that MPDN submitted work for The Show, and we asked our fans to vote for us. Either we have a lot of fans or people really like our work (or both), because you voted and WE WON!
Chelsea and I are honored to haven been awarded a Gold Pin in the People's Choice Category. Some of our other work also took home merit awards in the Photography/Campaign and Photography/Single categories.
We would like to yell out a huge THANK YOU across the internets to everyone who voted for us.
